Teaching Appropriation
Retzia Sherman is a fashion communications graduate and contract lecturer at Ryerson University
In this video, Sherman discusses a variety of topics from the stance of a professor. She discusses consumption of clothes and the importance of purchasing clothing from stores and people that are knowledgeable about culture.
She also discussed how she felt about non-religious fashion students wearing religious clothing as a fashion trend.
Sherman also spoke about the difference between how men and women are responded to in regards to cultural appropriation from a feminist standpoint.
Sherman also gave her opinion on the racial tension that takes places within cultural appropriation.
